I grew up in Johannesburg with a great love of wildlife as my family would visit Kruger Park on a regular basis, year after year.We never went to the sea or the Drakensberg, but my memories of Kruger Park will last forever.I always wanted an outdoor life and career, but these things don’t always happen the way you want and before you know it you are sucked into the system and earning a living to pay the bills.
Now that I am in my second gap year (I do not use the word RETIRE) I am free to do the things I love, and the things I was not able to do… hike, travel etc.
I walked the Camino in 2017, my certificate says 799 kms but it felt like 800 kms! Yes I have a sense of humour and enjoy laughing at life.
So I’m looking forward to another hiking challenge, different from the Camino, also involving wildlife, conservation, seeing new places, meeting new people.
I am pleased the fee is also a contribution / donation to environmental work.
