EDEN TO ADDO HIKE FUNDRAISER 2017

Hikers raising money for the Eden to Addo Corridor Intiative start in the Garden of Eden, where the last truly wild elephants still roam free, walk 400 kilometers through five different biomes, across 7 mountain ranges and forge countless rivers, in their quest to raise money so that perhaps, one day, the dream that the Eden elephants will once again be reunited with their kin at the Addo Elephant National Park may come true.

We are losing species every day, up to 200 per day, we are losing biodiversity. It is the greatest threat to the health of our planet, even more so than pollution, global warming or any other threat. The greatest reason for the loss of species and biodiversity is fragmentation of the landscape through farming, industry and urban areas. In order to fix fragmentation, Eden to Addo is linking the natural areas to each other by means of conservation corridors allowing free movement of not only the elephants, but also the antelope, the leopard, the mountain zebra and in fact all fauna and flora and thereby guarding against in-breeding and extinction.
